Bedfordshire has one ancient standing stone – hidden in an overgrown area of a public park.
Local folklore calls the stone the Devil’s toenail. The Devil tricked three men into playing jumps, but instead of landing on earth, they plummeted down to hell. The ground closed, leaving just the stone as a reminder.
